Underneath It All

There is something so wonderfully elegant yet independently powerful about a woman having her own collection. When I'm having a bad day at work I smile thinking about no one knowing what I have under my conservative dress, or if I'm feeling uninspired with an outfit for out on the town, I'll put on a little something underneath it all to make me feel bold and a little more confident. A little lace always pleases. For the best under the dress, be sure to visit my favorites in San Francisco:

About Country: Bistro Jeanty

jeanty4soupjeanty2jeanty3jeantyBistro Jeanty is one of Yountville's staples when it comes to dining. This weekend, my best friend and I enjoyed a delectable meal on their terrace as wine country slowly heated up to the mid-70's and we plotted our next adventure. Their tomato puff-pasty soup is infamous and ordering a glass of rosé isn't even a second thought.

C&C Recommendation:

Enjoy an early lunch at Bistro Jeanty and skip dessert. Walk down the road to Bouchon Bakery (get there early to avoid the line!) for a sweet treat and iced coffee to enjoy while you explore the gardens at French Laundry.

The Wild Hat Chase

solagehatsAs I sipped my "Sex in the Valley" cocktail attempting to soak up every ray of the sunshine Napa Valley was offering this weekend, I stopped in my tracks when I saw Kokin's indigo banded raffia hat featured in the March issue of C Magazine. For months, I've been lustfully scouring every website trying to score this particularly handsome hat, much to no avail. Kokin's hats take the crown and are notoriously hard to find. Below, I leave you with a few other of my favorite options while the wild hat chase ensues. Also - you (mostly) can't go wrong with these.

Currently Coveting

mochilabag_blouseluxe tunicbag2I love a good hunt. Put me in a consignment store and I'll dream about upholstering a dilapidated love seat or shining up a forgotten sterling silver tray for my tableware collection. Put my Mother and I in the same environment together and we'll scheme for hours. The recent discovery of Shop Latitude gives me the same sort of enjoyment. The site is a curated online marketplace for one of a kind travel finds in the form of clothing, accessories and souvenirs from the around the globe. Above is a sampling of some of my favorite pieces. Now the only problem is, I need a global escapade!

Stole My Heart

Arabella-Musgrave-wedding-09_122629231342 I don't like gawking at other people's wedding photographs as I believe they truly should be private and personal, however, this photograph is an exception in my book. My jaw just about dropped when I saw this cuteness from Arabella Musgrave and George Galliers-Pratt's wedding in London. The little boys in navy custom-made military inspired outfits stole my breath away. I can't stop gushing - such sweetness!

Queue It Up: True Detective

true-detective1Is anyone else watching HBO's new series True Detective? I'm still working my way through the season and find it raw and oddly seducing. (Think American Horror Story meets The Bone Collector). The crime thriller stars Matthew McConaughey (what a year he has had!) and his crime partner Woody Harrelson who are working to solve a series of murders in the sticks of Louisiana. The season finale just wrapped on March 9th but you can watch if you have HBO. Enticed? Watch the trailer here.

Finally!

MademCAs I mentioned upon it's debut, I couldn't wait to see Mademoiselle C, the documentary that follows the eternally chic Carine Roitfeld as she moves to New York from her post as former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief to launch her own magazine. Last night, I was finally able to watch the film via iTunes. It is a wonderful work of art that gives you a peek into the mysteriously genius world of Carine, the development of the magazine and her greatest loves in life - career and beyond. Below, enjoy some photographs of the style icon and be sure to read this interview featured in the Huffington Post to see what Carine says about going naked under the trench coat...

The Calling

The above farm-house is one of Ken Fulk's wine country projects that accurately evokes the type of ease that comes with living in Napa Valley. It's a funny feeling when you experience beautiful weather like we did, as I find myself craving more. I wish I could teleport to this farm-house for the day to enjoy laps in the salt water pool, lawn games with iced tea in hand and wine on the patio with a crackling fire before a candlelit al fresco dinner. Off to work I go...

La Paulée

sommelierLast night, I enjoyed my first La Paulée de San Francisco celebration at RN74. At La Paulée, wine aficionados gather to sample new releases and older vintages from the most sought after domaines of Burgundy. The event dates back to 1923 when one of the most respected Burgundy's wine growers, Jules Lafon, wanted to "revive the traditional medieval grape harvest celebration to which Cistercian monks invited their vineyard laborers." For the very first Paulée, Lafon hosted at Meursault domaine (a Burgundy region in Eastern France), inviting thirty-five of his friends to a small fête in the vat-room. When others caught wind of what was occurring, they thought Lafon had a wonderful concept and thus, by 1932, it was an annual affair. Today, the event is led by the most accomplished sommeliers in the US who join forces with extraordinary Chefs to pair the wines with some of the finest cuisine (New York City participates as well). Tommorow will mark the final day of La Paulée de San Francisco, however I encourage you to mark your calendar for next year.

Get Lost in the Music

DaftPunk_M le MondeI've found myself in a very contemplative state the past few days reflecting on personal goals, friendships, travel and pretty much every component of my young adult hood. (I've been told this is normal?) Music has always comforted me and forced me to find perspective. I find myself drawn to it more and more. Whether it's the sound of The Wailers, Bruce Hornsby, Stevie Wonder or new artists I have on repeat via my Spotify account, they seem to do the trick. Above, model Saskia de Brauw with the sensational musical duo Daft Punk shot by Peter Lindbergh. The spread was featured in the December 7th issue of French publication M le Monde.
