At Play

Lake Tahoe_SlimThe above is a photograph taken in 1959 by Slim Aarons (known for his photographs of the who's who of the jet-set era), in Lake Tahoe, California. I've spent the last few days enjoying some snowy R&R in Lake Tahoe with my sister which has been heavenly. I hear summer in Lake Tahoe is wonderful - some will argue even more enjoyable than winter! As my friend Heather Clawson says, Bon Weekend!

Give Me Green

item2.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.aerin-lauder-beauty-at-home-03-eat-hampton-home-pool-houseHeather Preston of KIC posted a few weeks ago about her longing for spring and all things green. I found myself envious of her mentioning that seed catalogs were stacked for the season ahead. One of the drawbacks of becoming a city girl is the lack of yard and green space at home. Growing up, we were surrounded by every kind of fruit tree, flower and vegetable you could imagine in our yard. We'd pick blackberries, peaches and rhubarb for summer cobbler, mint for iced tea, zucchini for my Mom's zucchini bread and summer blooms for the table on the porch. It took a lot of sweat equity to be able to enjoy the bounty we loved, but worth every effort. Green is Good.

One&Only

one-only-resorts4Supermodel (and San Francisco native), Christy Turlington is the new face for advertisements from the luxury resort company One&Only Resorts. The shoot was done in black in white, in addition to a series of short films. ('Serenity' is my favorite - hot damn is she perfection). I've only had the pleasure of experiencing the One&Only Palmilla Resort in Los Cabos which was heaven on earth, (although my favorite in Cabo is without question Las Ventanas). I hear the One&Only Reethi Rah Resort in the Maldives is incredible.

The Nike Bowl

Well, it certainly was some game on Sunday. Not only did the Seahawks crush the Broncos (which was undoubtedly more painful to watch than my rosé hangover the next morning), but Nike prevailed too.

Both the Seahawks and the Broncos wore signature looks by the sportswear manufacturer, each designed 15 years apart. In 1997, Nike redesigned the Broncos uniform, the first time Nike had done that for an N.F.L. team. Before the 2012 season, the Seahawks had their own uniform overhaul with the mostly blue (college navy is the official color name) and patterned green (action green) apparel you see today. Call me a uniform prude, but I'm having a hard time adjusting to these loud and obstreperous colors. Guess I'm a sucker for the classics....
