My Bed Mate

Every night before I fall asleep, I watch Jimmy Fallon in bed. I absolutely adore him and think he just oozes with candor, wit, and genuine charm. I'm very much looking forward to his transition next week where he'll take the helm from Jay Leno and host the inaugural "Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." My most favorite Jimmy Fallon skits include "The History of Rap", "late night hashtags" and "Slow Jamming the News". He better take all of those with him, including Questlove and his band mates. Watch my favorite slow jam with guest star (and my other love), Brian Williams, here.

xoxo,

Jimmy & Moi

Come Together

Despite all of the "#SochiProblems" that perplex and pester, I am really enjoying the Winter Olympics. While I am not constantly fixated to the television, I have enjoyed watching several of the competitions, namely the downhill skiing and figure skating. For me, the Winter Olympics are a bit reminiscent of the fun had during the America's Cup. It is a time to come together with friends new and old, while marveling over the beauty, grace and grit of these accomplished (and often very young!) athletes. Cozy up in your best sweats with a hot toddy or two, and remind yourself of all the possibilities we have in the world. Applaud those that go after their dreams and ponder your own. Life is beautiful.

What do you enjoy most about the Winter Olympics?

A Classic

llbeanMy Grandparents gifted my Mother with a pair of L.L.Bean "Bean Boots" (pictured above), when she was at St. Lawrence. She relied on them while dodging snow banks to and from class during the cold upstate New York winters. Thirty years later, my sister relies on the same pair for blustery Boston nights and weekend adventures to Vermont. I have my own too, which were a wonderful gift from a beau years ago. The boots are a reliable classic staple for winter that will last a lifetime. I love this short piece in the Maine Sunday Telegram this week about the iconic winter footwear.

Lake Tahoe_SlimThe above is a photograph taken in 1959 by Slim Aarons (known for his photographs of the who's who of the jet-set era), in Lake Tahoe, California. I've spent the last few days enjoying some snowy R&R in Lake Tahoe with my sister which has been heavenly. I hear summer in Lake Tahoe is wonderful - some will argue even more enjoyable than winter! As my friend Heather Clawson says, Bon Weekend!
