A cool piece in the WSJ's OFF DUTY that discusses the shift in hotels' relationships with high end art. Hotels are beginning to acquire big names in the art world to keep up with lifestyle marketing trends, with a focus on continuingly crafting memorable stays for their guests, a "daring approach" as explained by Donna Rosen, a trustee at New York’s Whitney Museum. My Sweet Caroline
The (Frozen) Ocean State
This just in: a snowy scene from my hometown, good old Ida in all her winter glory. Dare I say, this photograph makes me a little lonesome for the ocean state.
Measuring the Moat: Sustaining Value Creation
For those interested in reading about value creation and the concept of the economic moat, (a term coined thanks to Mr. Buffett), I highly recommend this interesting (but lengthy) read on the subject.
Island Living: Hibiscus Hill
In honor of her new book, I leave you with photographs of India Hicks' charmed island life at her Hibiscus Hill home on Harbour Island. To view her new book (which will be released March 20th), visit here.
White Blank Page
I never tire of this song. It is a passionate emotional acoustic affair that leaves me spellbound. Listen here.
Rewind
There are moments in my life I wish I could rewind to, and this would be one of them. I wish I could snap my fingers and be back in this moment with my family over the Christmas holiday. Passion lover rum drinks, spontaneous dance parties and new found friends on the water. Our happiness was all in sync and the weather could not have been more perfect. Life is grand.
La Piscine
A love triangle in the heat of the summer on the Côte d'Azur, the 1969 Italian-French film La Piscine is one of my favorite classics. Romy Schneider, (who plays Marianne) is one of my favorite actresses and oh how I wish I could just slip into any given scene with the drop of a hat. The sultry swimming scenes and enviable 60s wardrobes just do it for me. View the trailer here.
Leading Ladies: Oscars 2015
Without question, Rosamund Pike (first photograph above) was my favorite best dressed at the Oscars. Red was a daring choice, but she looked exquisite and exuded that pure Hollywood glamour that I would argue, we see less of in our modern age. Rosamund wore Givenchy Haute Couture, her hair and makeup natural and elegant. Although she didn't win best actress for "Gone Girl" she won the red carpet in my book. My other favorites, as depicted above, include Reese Witherspoon (in Tom Ford), Naomi Watts (in Armani Privé) and Julianne Moore (who seems untouched by time in Chanel Haute Couture). The New York Times did an excellent job of capturing all the red carpet moments, visit here for more.
Thank you to my girlfriends who made it such a fun evening of Oscar viewing! Xx
